In recent months, a couple of stars have come forward to talk about the pressures they were put under early in their career to have breast surgery. They were told they would never make it unless they had surgery, but after years of persistence and hard-work, they have both made the A-list (or at least the B+ list) without surgery. When she was starting out, Minka Kelly, most famous for her role in Friday Night Lights, the TV series, was told that she would need breast augmentation, liposuction, and porcelain veneers to be a Playboy Playmate, which, according to a former Playmate would be a great start to an acting career. However, Kelly ended up deciding that she didn’t want plastic surgery, and proceeded to succeed anyway. The actress, who has also been outspoken on the joys of eating well and enjoying treats in moderation, has engaged in an active lifestyle to achieve the figure that got her selected as the “Sexiest Woman in the World” by Esquire magazine. Even more recently, Latina actress Sofia Vergara revealed that when she was starting her career in the US her publicist at the time told her “I think you should just reduce your boobs because nobody’s going to take you seriously here.” However, Sofia resisted the advice to get breast reduction, much to her mother’s delight, and now her sizeable bust is an essential part of her most famous character, Gloria on Modern Family. In other words, you don’t need breast surgery to become a star. What do you need to become a star? Nothing can guarantee it, but a combination of persistence, self-confidence, and an awful lot of luck seems to be your best bet. Plastic surgery is not for everyone. If you are comfortable and confident in your body, there is no reason for seeking out surgery. If, however, you are unhappy with your body, it may be time to consider a change.
