One of the great advantages of the breast augmentation procedure is that it is exceptionally customizable. Dr. Bottger will listen to you and your goals and guide you through a series of decisions that will help you craft the augmentation procedure that’s right for you.
One of the decisions we will help you make concerns the shape of your breast implants. You’ll generally have two choices: round implants or teardrop-shaped implants.
Both have their advantages and dis-advantages. The round implant, which is the traditional implant option, offers a number of advantages. Because it is perfectly round, the implant can move and shift in the implant pocket without any change in the external appearance. Round implants also move naturally with your body – for example, from a prone position to a standing one.
Teardrop breast implants are newer, relatively speaking. They’re designed to offer a more “natural” tapered appearance, and they can be customized to help a woman achieve a specific shape or address a particular area of concern. However, while round implants can be either smooth or textured, a teardrop implant must be textured to prevent rotation – which would be visible because of the shape of the teardrop implant.
Which implant shape is right for you? That depends on your specific goals and expectations. Dr. Bottger will listen to you and help you find the right solution.
